Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to participate and compete in various sporting events.
These include:
Cross Country – This event is held in Term 1 where students from Years 3-6 compete in long distance running at the Wamuran Sports Complex.
Prep-Year 2 compete in a ‘Junior Fun Run’ on the senior oval on the same day during the afternoon.
Senior Athletics – Normally held in Term 2, the Senior Athletics Carnival involves students in Year 3-6 participating in various track and field events at the Wamuran Sports Complex over two days. Events include: 100m & 200 sprints, long jump, high jump, discus, shot put, 800m and relays.
Junior Athletics – Students from Prep-Year 2 partake in a Junior Athletics Carnival held at the school. The focus of this day is for students to participate in various events on offer with the emphasis on joining in on the activities rather than competing for place positions. The day normally begins with sprints before going into event rotations in house groups.
Swimming – A swimming block is offered to all students that runs over 5 days toward the end of the year. Students are assessed and are put into group based on their ability levels. These lessons help to refine their swimming technique and stroke execution.
Gala days – The gala days occur all throughout the year where students in Year 5 and 6 can be selected in a team to represent the school in a particular sport. The sports included on these Gala days are: Soccer, AFL, Cricket, Netball, Rugby League, Softball and Touch Football.
District/Regional/State trials – Over the course of the school year, students can excel further in a chosen sport by trialling and competing at district trials and competitions. If successful, students may be selected to represent themselves and the school at regional and state competitions.
